This portal highlights WikiPathways content related to renal biology and disease. Most available pathways lack tissue/cell specificity and don’t distinguish between isozymes. This limits their usefulness in highly differentiated tissues such as the glomerulus, renal arteries, macula densa or individual nephron segments. The paucity of available tools to analyze large renal data sets spurred us to develop and compile a collection of renal-specific pathways. Crowd contributions by renal physiologist to further develop these pathways and to create similar ones would provide a powerful and freely-available tool to expand the renal genomics field. |
