I noticed that a lot of pathways that are not really disease pathways are annotated with the disease ontology. This case for example, has "disease of response to stimulus", but it's really just a cell signaling pathway.

By that argumentation, any signaling pathway is automatically also a "disease of response to stimulus". But I think that is very redundant. I feel there must be something specific about the diseased state in the pathway in order for it to qualify for a term from the disease ontology. And a lot of annotations from the disease ontology annotations should be replaced by pathway ontology annotations.

Do we have a guideline on this?
