Wishlist:N-glycan biosynthesis

N-linked Glycosylation is one of the most important form of post-translational modification in eukaryotes. An earlier work in 1999 showed that at least 50% of the proteins known at the time were N-glycosylated; and the majority of the proteins in the secretory pathway (those that are exposed to the cell surface or in a vescicule) have this modification.

N-glycosylation is also important for the folding of the proteins in the secretory pathway, for cell-to-cell interactions, innate immunity, protein localization, and a lot of processes.

I am annotating this pathway for the reactome database: I have the list of the reactions involved, if anyone volunteer to translate this into the Wikipathways format, I will be glad to collaborate.


This pathway also is annotated in KEGG (http://www.genome.jp/dbget-bin/show_pathway?hsa00510), but the annotation I am doing is more extensive.
