Current revision

In addition to inducing and sustaining positively acting growth-stimulatory signals, cancer cells must also circumvent powerful programs that negatively regulate cell proliferation. Often these are tumor suppressor genes, that are often mutated in cancer cells. Two examples of this are RB and TP53.
